I was at the Ann Arbor Art Fair with my mom and her friends the other week when I spotted these two.
As a knitter, I have to say, I was very intrigued. I immediately recognized the yarns. Pretty sure they are acrylic and can be purchased at your local Micheal's, AC Moore, or Hobby Lobby. Props to the women who made their own dreadlocks out of yarn. Now I know, when you can't grow them, you can craft your own.
Having grown up very close to a college town that hosts both the Naked Mile and the Hash Bash, and also coming of age during the infamous grunge era, I'm accustomed to people flying their freak flag, so to speak. I hadn't been to the Art Fair in like ten years, and when I saw these two women, I realized that in this era the Art Fair's missing something crucial. More freaks. What gives Ann Arbor? What good's an art-related street festival without some really good people watching.
So again, to these women, thank you. I wish there were more people like you around.
And is that a Mrs. Frankenstein tattoo? It coordinates so nicely with your green top. I don't have the guts, but I can admire yours.
