A little trip up date on our journey to New Brunswick. We had a wicked storm last Friday. It was snowing, then raining, then lightening, then snowing. I actually didn't go into the office in the morning. The storm was the worst between 2-4 and I was freaking out about having to fly to Bangor that evening. I called Matt a couple times saying, "It's awful I don't even think I can get to the T to get to the airport!! Call the travel agent and see if they can rebook me for tomorrow." Apparently the airport closed for 4 hours during the afternoon but they weren't advertising it. But luckily it calmed down at 4:00 and I ended up walking the mile to the T through the snow. My flight was only delayed about an hour and a half. I got to Bangor after 10:30pm and met Matt. We then drove the two hours up to New Brunswick. It was eerily familiar driving together at night for hours after a big snow storm through the deep north woods. And the best part...We saw a moose, finally!!! And luckily it was way off to the side of the road and not in the road. I was excited because we saw both a moose and Ben Affleck (outside Boston in a aqua vintage mustang) on the expressway in the same month! And they both looked right at us. haha!
The reason for the trip to New Brunswick was for Matt's company's Christmas party, which was Saturday night. Saturday during the day we didn't have a lot to do. We drove to see where his company's headquarters were in a tiny tiny village on a river. I took a few pictures along the way. The whole tour took maybe a half an hour. Then we ate lunch and played video trivia is a little bar where they asked us if we wanted gravy on our french fries. Apparently the local specialty is "poutine": french fries covered in beef gravy and mozzarella cheese. As Tim would say, "Sick!". I didn't try it but it sounds gross.
After that excitement, we went back to the hotel and I took a nap before the party. The party was a typical holiday party, but in a wood paneled KofC hall in Canada. We felt like we were in a Kids in the Hall sketch from the late 80s. They served a turkey dinner, which wasn't too appealing for us Americans coming right off Thanksgiving. But oh well! Unfortunately the American staff was disqualified from the holiday raffle so we didn't have a chance to win any prizes. But I did win a free weekend trip to NB and I got to meet all the nice and funny people Matt's been hanging out with for the last year and a half. :)
